An Evening with Peter Kaestner, Sigma Phi C'73 & Cornell '76: A Legendary Birder’s Journey
Hear stories from Peter Kaestner, a retired U.S. diplomat and legendary birder who has spent more than six decades traveling the world in pursuit of birds. From his career as a diplomat to his extraordinary adventures on five continents, Kaestner has spent a lifetime following his passion for birds. His quest has earned him two Guinness World Records: in 2024, he became the first person to see 10,000 bird species in the wild, and he was the first person to see a representative of every bird family.
